Maurice Kagan is the president of Canal Group, a residential and commercial property holding company. Canal Group is engaged in property development, construction, financing and management of commercial and residential assets. Mr. Kagan was formerly chief executive officer and owner of Sparkle Solutions Inc., a route operator servicing over 13,000 laundry machines serving the multi-residential housing industry in Canada that was acquired by a U.S. based laundry operator in 2013. In 1997, Mr. Kagan spearheaded the launch of Residential Equities Real Estate Investment Trust (RESREIT). He was a director of Pinehurst Capital 1 until December 2021, a director of Kew Media Group until February 2020 and was a director of Cliffside Capital Ltd. until September 2020. He is a former director of Pure Multi-Family REIT, InterRent REIT, Carfinco Financial Group Inc. and Lonestar West Inc. and was the Chair of the audit committee of both Carfinco Financial Group Inc. and Lonestar West Inc. Mr. Kagan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa in 1981, has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Town and has a certificate in the Theory of Accountant.
Michael Ostfield has over 25 years of experience in capital markets. He is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Mathematics in Honours Accountancy from the University of Waterloo. During his career, he has served as a portfolio manager and trader, along with being responsible for fund performance calculations and the preparation of financial statements for several hedge funds.
